In spite of the global economic crisis with its job loss and suffering, God is always at work and most of all is in control. The Eternal One was on his throne during the flood; the Eternal One on his throne reigns eternally. Ps. 29:10. Indeed, we continue to be touched by the wonders he is accomplishing in the lives of the people we live among.
In February, during two evenings of evangelism in the south of the country, close to 100 people made a decision to commit themselves to God. The same week, with another team, we held an evangelism conference in Logdir. Three hundred people attended, and many also made a decision for God.
We then hosted a team from Quebec, which came to help us in various areas. This team helped us complete the painting at the Ngekhokh church and the house of the principal of the Kaolack school.
They took advantage of the opportunity to minister to the children at the school.
We also dug the foundation of a new church in the village of Koulouck and we have already installed the roof of this church.
Before the team’s departure, we also launched an evangelism campaign in Fatick. Seven evenings with the French mission and Pastor Maréchal from France, and God again demonstrated his love towards the Senegalese people.
The first evening, a woman suffering from hemiplegia, which prevented her from walking, speaking, and seeing properly, was completely healed through prayer. What a marvellous sight to see her walking and expressing herself perfectly right away! The evenings continued with many other significant healings. A young 14-year-old girl recovered her hearing and speech after being deaf since early childhood. A young woman in her twenties, paralyzed for several years, regained the use of her legs. Someone else was healed of a significant breast mass that disappeared right away.
We received the five containers of Operation Christmas Child boxes at the end of February, and the distribution is going well. This year we are distributing in new regions, but continue to receive many positive and very encouraging testimonies concerning the amazing impact of this ministry. More than 51,000 boxes will be distributed.
From March 12th to 15th, we participated in “Operation Jericho” in Ndiaganiao. This was a concerted inter-church effort with many components: evangelism, medical clinic, teaching and ministry for children. Over the three days, more than three thousand people participated in the different activities under a tent, and benefited from free meals and medical care. There also, we received many testimonies of healing and of numerous transformed lives.
At the beginning of April, we also held a four day campaign in Dakar, in a new district where we hope to plant a church. More than thirty people came forward during the altar calls.
Moussa, the father of a family of 11 children, was sitting at home when he heard the music and the songs. He came to see what was happening. He was convinced of his need for God. Afterwards, he went to the church that had organized these evenings. While he was talking with the Christians, these believers decided to go and visit his family to also share the good news with them. Some of his older children also entrusted their lives to God. Like Moussa, many passers-by came near to hear the message during these evenings, and they left transformed.
We thank you for partnering with us in this work in Senegal.
May God continue to fill you!
Gaétan and Jacinthe Gaucher
